RE: Welcome to the Web & AI Interest Group (WebAI) - Please introduce yourselves.

Hello everyone,

It was nice seeing the team for the first time yesterday. Also, Happy belated Christmas and the new year!

I am Ehsan Toreini. I work in the Web Standards team in Samsung Research and Development Institute in London, UK. I am also a TAG associate. Previously, I was assistant professor (tenure track) in University of Durham University and Surrey University, UK. My research background is extensively focused on socio-technical privacy and security but specifically, I can highlight a few:

- Privacy-enhancing technologies (verifiable privacy-preserving cryptographic protocols, socio-technical aspects of PETs):

    * Fairness as a Service (FaaS): verifiable and privacy-preserving fairness auditing of machine learning systems, International Journal of Information Security, 2022: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10207-023-00774-z

    * "I feel invaded, annoyed, anxious and I may protect myself": Individuals' Feelings about Online Tracking and their Protective Behaviour across Gender and Country, USENIX S&P'21: https://www.usenix.org/conference/usenixsecurity22/presentation/coopamootoo

- Trustworthy Machine Learning (privacy attacks with ML and socio-technical trust in ML):

    * The relationship between trust in AI and trustworthy machine learning technologies, ACM FaccT'20: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1912.00782

    * Simulating the effects of social presence on trust, privacy concerns & usage intentions in automated bots for finance, EuroS&P'20: https://arxiv..org/pdf/2006.15449

- Physical Security (side channel attacks and fuzzy cryptography for authentication):

    * Texture to the rescue: Practical paper fingerprinting based on texture patterns, ACM TOPS, 2017: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1705.02510

    * Anti-counterfeiting for polymer banknotes based on polymer substrate fingerprinting, IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, 2021: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2103.06184

    * A practical deep learning-based acoustic side channel attack on keyboards, EuroS&PW'23: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2308.01074

Excited to be part of this group and happy to contribute.

Dear WebAI group,

My name is Vagner Santana and I'm a senior researcher, at NIC.br, and this is my first time joining a W3C group.

I have been researching about web technologies since 2006 on topics such as:
- evaluation of user interfaces,
- user behavior analysis,
- personalization systems,
- recommender systems, and
- responsible AI.

Excited to be part of this group and happy to contribute.

Dear all,

Welcome to the Web & AI Interest Group, known as WebAI.

As a co-chair, I am delighted to have you join us.

The mission of the Web & AI Interest Group is to provide a forum to explore and discuss how emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) related technologies are impacting and intersecting with Web technologies and consider how the community could collaborate to shape these evolutions for the benefit of web users.

Everyone who is involved in the WebAI is expected to behave in accordance with the W3C Code of Conduct:
