On Tuesday, the USPTO issued a patent for a 'Method and system for implementing virtual functions of an interface' [1]. William H. Gates III is the patent's assignee. On Thursday, the USPTO disclosed that a continuation of Gates' patent [2] was filed last August, the same month that Microsoft went to the W3C asking for support in its battle against the Eolas plug-in patent.
