We are now working on plans for holding a W3C web payments workshop early next year and want to avoid clashing with other related events. We are currently looking into hosting the workshop in Paris and are trying to pin down the dates. One suggestion is 12-13 Feb 2014. Another is the Monday and Tuesday following the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, i.e. 2-3 Mar 2014, the theory being that some people key to the workshop will be at MWC, and if coming from outside of Europe may well prefer to attend the workshop as part of a single trip. The week before MWC is unavailable due to other conflicting meetings. I am aware of only two events relating to payments in Feb 2014: Mobile money and payments, Mexico City 13-14 Feb 2014 Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, 24-27 Feb 2014 The focus for the workshop will be standards for enabling a level playing field for payment solution providers large and small, existing and new, since this is likely to be essential to getting broad support for any resulting standards. We won't be seeking to standardize particular payment solutions. p.s. we were looking at October 2013 in New York, but after further consideration this was felt to be too risky due to the impact of the Summer vacation period on timely outreach and decision making. Looking forward to any advice you can offer. Many thanks, -- Dave Raggett <dsr@w3.org> http://www.w3.org/People/Raggett
