Review of the First Stage of the What is WoT Tutorial

Dear WoT CG,
Cc’ing WoT WG/IG,

We are happy to announce that the first part of the “What is WoT” tutorial is ready for reviews from all the CG participants after reviews by me and Cristiano. The tutorial is composed of videos and a website which will mirror the content in a reading-oriented format. You can find the source of the videos and the website at [1] and the published version of the website at [2]. We want to start a review procedure before publishing them on our YouTube channel, after which it will be more difficult to change. Please provide your feedback by January 25th.

If you want to provide reviews, I recommend the following way:

  1. Clone the repository from the root of [1]. Since each video is an mp4 file, GitHub cannot render them in place.
  2. Go to Tutorials > whatiswot
  3. Each tutorial is a folder. You can simply watch the mp4 files in each folder. A video player which supports subtitles are recommended (e.g. VLC player).
  4. Make a Pull Request to the corresponding subtitle file (.vtt file in the folders). You can find an example at [3]. You can also create an issue but this should be easier. You can also join the calls [5] and provide your opinions. For the website, you can do the same or open issues.

Some important notes:

  * Please consider only the videos until 10 (excluding). These tutorials are preliminary information to understand the WoT technologies. There are of course missing parts, like semantic web technologies, which will be done later.
  * The website content is directly copied from the video subtitle. The website will be adapted to use a better language. Thus, please do not review the website content but only the style and similar aspects.
  * A GitHub project is used to track the progress. You can see it at [4].
  * You can join the regular meeting on Fridays to talk about the tutorial. Here is the first one in 2024 [5].
