Hi all, I went to a local conference about IoT[1][2] and fielded the expo participants to identify who knew anything about RDF (and thereafter also, WoT works). One of the older watson (ibm) persons, alongside a lady i very much enjoyed meeting who formerly worked for W3C (in AU) were the only ones who were aware of RDF. Whilst i am advocating for a particular form of 'philosphical engineering' more broadly[3] (as it relates to a form or field of implementation method); the challenge brought about is how to ensure in my follow-up briefing activities, with numerous interested parties, how is it that i can show; a. the way vast economic benefits exist by employing a means to build app interfaces, using RDF related standards b. the repos that exist to support the suggestion - that a bunch of work already exists as to support any consideration made, that it may be worthwhile others seeking to do some R&D and figure out how to get involved. In GitHub, there are 'topics', and the means to search the entire environment for projects that have those 'topics' included in the repo. One is 'wot'[4], although i note, there are a few different ways this term is used. notwithstanding my suggestion that perhaps the chair best identify a term best suited - perhaps something like w3c-wot or some such thing that works for everyone? My hope was, that we might be able to improve discovery of good work as to support the engagement of others. related also - is consideration about whether the HbbTV specifications (and if so, what versions[5]) are in-effect, WoT compatible? It appears the HbbTV specs include TLS support, and i'm not officially sure - it's compatible with WebID-TLS and that moreover; RDF semantics, with app stacks such as is demonstrated by MPAT[6]. I am hopeful, considerations with respect to these two fields of enquiry will help engender more participants, in this important field of work. it seemed to me, that the broader 'semantic web' ecosystem, provides exceptional opportunities for IoT MFGs and related emergent eco-system participants. Any supporting material that may be available to assist with private implementation methods in particular (meaning, not API based as to result in a product, becoming service bound to a specified provider) i am also very interested in being able to reference, in documents produced as i make best attempts to help others with their means to perform an 'opportunity evaluation'. Finally - i note: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QTAtFaIiyc - which i found enlightening. Kind Regards, Timothy Holborn.
