Related to this use case: many use cases want to be able to integrate with existing NFC infrastructure. They already have, for instance, ticket readers for physical NFC tickets, and want to let people use their phone instead of a physical ticket. They're not going to replace all their ticketing infrastructure; they're going to say "download our app!", because apps can do NFC.
