Hi, Among the apps that have been lived and prospered on the Web on computers but have (at least partially) transitioned to native figure news apps. At a high level, native news apps tend to use the following features that are not available (or not easily so) today on the Web: * offline * (somewhat large) local storage * push notifications (for alerting users of "hot" news) * easy / persistent authentication They may also require specific layouts, and would likely benefit from very smooth performances. Most of these can be mapped to existing work under development for the Web. The Guardian has announced today a new native app they've developed that exhibits some interesting additional requirements, with a strong focus on security: https://guardianproject.info/apps/courier/ It would be interesting to look at these features, and see whether they map to existing or planned Web capabilities; I might get to that analysis, but thought I would share the idea in case someone wants to beat me to it :) Dom
