Introduction

With Natasha and Dom making introductions, it's time for me to say who I am too!

I'm one of the group's co-chairs, and have a bit of history with W3C having chaired W3C Coremob (which this group is taking over from) and also W3C Mobile Web Best Practices which ran through to the end of 2010. I've written quite a few W3C Recommendations and Notes - almost all on the topic of mobile.

Outside of W3C I'm CTO at a mobile specialist agency, Sponge. We help our clients with mobile related projects, though today that almost always means some form of cross channel engagement. I'm Director and co-organiser of Mobile Monday London, a professional community focused on mobile, and I am also Director of The Mobile Academy, a joint initiative between Mobile Monday London and University College London (UCL - a major university here in the UK). The Mobile Academy teaches mobile business, mobile design and the elements of mobile technology.

I'm looking forward very much to working with my co-chairs and our staff contact Dom. As Dom mentions, he and I put together the charter for this group.

I'm particularly looking forward to working with this group and beyond this initial period for us to advance the key message from our charter:

"To accelerate the development of Web technology so that it becomes a compelling platform for mobile applications and the obvious choice for cross platform development"

We have plenty of work to do!

Jo
