Hi,

I would like to bring your attention to the recently released joint
UGA-IBM technical note on WSDL-S. The technical
specification:

R. Akkiraju, J. Farrell, J.Miller, M. Nagarajan, M. Schmidt, A. Sheth,
K. Verma (in alphabetical order), "Web Service Semantics - WSDL-S, " A
joint UGA-IBM Technical Note, version 1.0, April 18, 2005 is available
at IBM and UGA sites:
1) http://lsdis.cs.uga.edu/projects/meteor-s/wsdl-s/
2)
http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/g/g.nsf/img/semanticsdocs$file/wssemantic_annotation.pdf

WSDL-S was also presented at the W3C Workshop on
Frameworks for Semantics in Web Services. The presentation made at the
workshop, which also identified its driving principles consistent with
evolutionary approach that
preserves current investments in SOA, is available at
http://lsdis.cs.uga.edu/projects/meteor-s/wsdl-s/WSDL-S.pdf.

WSDL-S supports adding semantics to WSDL by using its extensibility
capabilities. The key annotations supported are:
*Annotating message types (XSD complex types and elements)
-extension attribute : modelReference (semantic association)
-extension attribute : schemaMapping (schema/data mapping)
     * Annotating operations
-extension elements : precondition and effect
-extension attribute : category (on the interface element)
-extension element : action (on operation element)(under
consideration)

We invite comments, suggestions and questions from interested parties
at the public forum:
http://lsdis.cs.uga.edu/forum/viewforum.php?f=13

Tool support for WSDL-S is avaiable at:
METEOR-S Downloads: http://lsdis.cs.uga.edu/projects/meteor-s/downloads/
alphaWorks ETTK: http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/wssem

Thanks,
Kunal Verma
