Minutes from W3C MEIG monthly call 4 October 2022

Dear all,

The minutes from the MEIG meeting at are available [1].

Many thanks to Sato-san and Yasuoka-san from NHK for presenting. The minutes include links to the presentation slides.

The meeting included:

* A brief review of media topics at TPAC

* An update on recent developments at IPTV Forum Japan, including open source DASH player, streaming server, and timed metadata inserter, and Hybridcast Connect TV emulator, reference SDKs, and sample client application. Also shown was a demonstration of Web of Things enabled prototype with a Hybridcast Connect TV.

* Case studies of Hybridcast application development and performance issues, including transition and animation rendering, start up time when switching between services, and browser/application launch time

Items to follow up:

* Should we initiate collaboration between MEIG and Web Of Things groups on media related use cases for WoT? Identify scope and potential contributors

* Add the performance related topics discussed in the meeting to our MEIG GitHub repository [2], as input to our proposed Task Force on Developing web applications on consumer products [3]

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 1st November.
