Please take a look and offer suggestions of what can be improved or if I'm missing anything. I'll definitely come back to this another day and take another editorial pass at this. I think it's probably worth leaving it in PR form for a while so that it's easier to make comments on specific pieces. I'll update the requirements based on the use-cases in a subsequent pass.
