Dear all, There were a couple of items on the agenda of the recent W3C TAG meeting of interest to our group that I'd like to share: 1. Media Autoplay As a Permission [1, 2] I quote the TAG resolution here: > RESOLUTION: media autoplay should be under user control; that could mean for example having a setting "yes, autoplay is OK across the board" or it could mean origin-specific permissions prompts. "yes, netflix can autoplay videos". ---> therefore modeling autoplay as a permission is desirable because the diversity of effective policies will require that sites be able to introspect the policy without attempting to play media. Please also read the follow-up discussion at WHATWG [3] and feel free to join the discussion there. 2. TV-Specific Web Subsetting [4, 5] This has been an item on the TAG's agenda for a while, and one that I think should be discussed in the IG, as it's broader than just HbbTV. Current work in this area is happening in the Web Media API Community Group [6]. Your comments and feedback on both these issues are welcome. Kind regards, Chris (Co-chair, W3C Media & Entertainment Interest Group) [1] https://github.com/w3ctag/meetings/blob/gh-pages/2018/04-tokyo/04-07-minutes.md#media-autoplay-as-a-permission-203 [2] https://github.com/w3ctag/design-reviews/issues/203 [3] https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/3617 [4] https://github.com/w3ctag/meetings/blob/gh-pages/2018/04-tokyo/04-07-minutes.md#issue-105-tv-specific-web-subsetting [5] https://github.com/w3ctag/design-reviews/issues/105
