For those of you who are not HbbTV members, you may be interested to hear that HbbTV have published a new specification this week for "operator applications" - HTML applications from a content provider (or group of content providers) which can run on a connected TV or set-top box and provide a user experience that's consistent across channels but customised to that particular operator. You can think if it as a "virtual set-top box" which lets content providers such as cable or satellite operators have a consistent look and feel for their services across a range of retail devices. See http://www.hbbtv.org/news-events/hbbtv-association-publishes-specification-for-operator-applications/ for details and a link to the spec. Steve.
