Overview document: Spatial Navigation added to Playback controls

Hello Media & Entertainment IG,

This note to mention that I added Spatial Navigation to the list of topics under exploration at W3C in the "Playback controls" section (*) of the Overview document:
 https://w3c.github.io/web-roadmaps/media/control.html#exploratory-work

Spatial Navigation is the ability to navigate between focusable elements based on their position within a structured document. It is typically useful to control "ten-foot user interfaces" with 4-way keys that are so common on TV remote controllers, as well as on gamepads. The idea is to extend CSS and expose APIs to enable support for spatial navigation in web applications:
 https://github.com/WICG/spatial-navigation

(Some level of support is already doable through JavaScript, see the previous link for details as to why that is not enough)

Spatial Navigation was presented and discussed during a breakout session on Wednesday at TPAC, and moved to the Web Platform Incubator Community Group (WICG) as a result. I'm sure our friends from LG, who put together this proposal, would be happy to take questions. Hyojin, I'm shamelessly pointing at you here, hope you don't mind! (I do not have Jihye's address, feel free to add her to the thread if needed).

Thanks,
Francois.

(*) The section used to be named "Media controls" but was renamed, as suggested during the group's meeting at TPAC to be clearer about the scope.
