Hi all, TPAC is approaching [0] and with TPAC our F2F. Given that all the active TFs have concluded their work, the main agenda item for the F2F will be to discuss which other topics (if any) IG participants have interest in working on. In other words, we should discuss about the future of this IG. Please note that our charter [1] will soon expire (30 November 2012). Is important that we get this discussion started ahead of TPAC so we can start our F2F with some proposals on the table and make the best use of our time there. So we would require to send out your proposal in the **next two weeks**, to give the group enough time to discuss them ahead of the meeting. About topics: during last F2F several were mentioned by IG participants. They are listed on our wiki [2]. Removing the ones already addressed, the following are still open: 1. Social TV 2. Disaster prevention and response 3. Metadata 4. Accessibility and Usability 5. Parental Control 6. Profiling 7. Testing 8. API to access low level functionalities on TV devices 9. Best Practices for content Developers The chairs are interested in hearing from IG participants: - which of the above topics they are interested in *actively* contribute to. - if there are other topics not listed above people would like to work on. About the charter: with the charter expiring in November, we have two possible way forward: * ask for renewal of the charter (i.e. leave the charter as is and just extend it) * do a re-chartering, i.e. change the content of the charter Which options to go for depends on which topics this group intends to work on. But in general, chairs believe that a re-chartering is more appropriate at this stage, given that some of the topics above are not in scope for the current charter (e.g. profiling, testing). Anyway we are interested in hearing IG participants opinion on this. Of course another option, not explicitly listed above, is NOT to re-new our charter and either consider the IG original mission concluded or keep working on some of the topics above under a different group, e.g. a Community Group or a Business Group (new or existing one). Before going for such option, though, we should ask ourselves if there is a real benefit in making this transition. Regards, Web&TV IG co-chairs.
