Hi all, this is a quick summary of what are the next steps the Web&TV IG will undertake, as we discussed (and agreed) during our F2F in Lyon. This is just a very quick summary to make everybody aware of what is going to happen, more detailed info to follow. = Charter = The group has decided to ask the W3C Management for rechartering. Chairs are drafting a new version of the charter that will be sent out soon to members for review. = New TFs = During TPAC 2012 we have identified a prelimiary list of topics that members are interested to work on. Each topic will start with a dedicated TF (we may decide to merge some of them later on once is clearer the scope of each TF). They are: * Testing TF - Identify Requirements for testing from a “Web and TV” perspective - act as a bridge between ongoing activities in W3C and other organizations interested in testing W3C specifications * Recording and Downloading Media - Identify requirements for recording and downloading media * Terminal Capabilities - Investigate requirements for discover and control of device capabilities (e.g. tuner control) (note: this TF already had a kick off meeting during TPAC break out sessions. see notes here http://www.w3.org/wiki/TPAC2012/tvapis) * Content Metadata Exposure and Content Synchronization - Investigate how to expose TV metadata to web applications - Investigate mapping between Media Element API and in-band metadata - Synchronization up to frame accurate * Stereoscopic 3D Web - Investigate impact of 3D Video/Graphics on HTML and other web standards * TTML / WebVTT coexistence - Collect the different TTML/SMPTE-TT based specs used by the industry and feed it into the Timed Text WG - Try to define a strategy for caption tech. coexistence - Follow the effort in mapping between the TTML and WebVTT going on into the Timed Text WG More info on each TF coming soon. /g -- Giuseppe Pascale TV & Connected Devices Opera Software
