Hi Web Advertising BG, Draft minutes from this week's call are posted at https://www.w3.org/2019/01/31-web-adv-minutes.html the next call will be in two weeks, Thursday, 14 February. It sounds as though one conversation is converging around the challenge of fraud-resistant, privacy-preserving measurement. Mike's Ad Metrics[1] and Wendell's proposed Media Visibility work respond to this challenge. As I hear it, as it's becoming harder (legally and practically) to collect measurement via third-party cookies and tracking, a privacy-preserving alternative might be able to provide more reliable data. Another related conversation is on the grouping of related domains or indication of authorization or delegation, e.g. what's a "related-party," connecting apps and web, or who's authorized to place ads. Mike O'Neill's Server Declaration[2], Mike West's First Party Sets[3], and IAB TechLab's app-ads.txt[4] offer suggestions in this regard. I look forward to continued discussion, here, in github, and on calls. Did I miss any major threads? --Wendy [1] https://github.com/w3c/web-advertising/blob/master/admetrics.md [2] https://github.com/w3c/web-advertising/blob/master/serverdeclaration.md [3] https://github.com/mikewest/first-party-sets [4] https://iabtechlab.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/IABTechLab_PUBLIC_DRAFT_Authorized_Sellers_for_Apps_app-ads.txt_Specs.pdf -- Wendy Seltzer -- wseltzer@w3.org +1.617.715.4883 (office) Strategy Lead, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) https://wendy.seltzer.org/ +1.617.863.0613 (mobile)
