I cleaned up the language for 10 and 11.1.3.4 that we settled on but didnt have time to break into DOC and SOFTARE In doing this I changed the notes a bit because they were directive or judgmental rather than just being informative (which is what notes shold be) Check out the language here and see if you have any problems with it ( For reference - the original WCAG2ICT working text we came up with at the meeting is at the bottom of the email) Non-web document version (clean) Where ICT is, or includes, a non-web document, and the non-web document is displayed on hardware that is designed to be reoriented in typical use, the non-web document shall satisfy the WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.3.4 Orientation. NOTE: A non-web document that is only used on hardware that supports a single display orientation, or is only displayed on hardware that is physically fixed in one orientation (e.g. a digital building directory) is excluded by the precondition and therefore does not need to provide support for orientation changes. Non-web Software version (clean) Where ICT is, or includes, non-web software, and the non-web software is displayed on hardware that is designed to be reoriented in typical use, the non-web software shall satisfy the WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.3.4 Orientation. NOTE: Non-web software that is only run on hardware that supports a single display orientation, or is run only on hardware that is physically fixed in one orientation (e.g. a digital building directory) is excluded by the precondition and therefore does not need to provide support for orientation changes. EXAMPLES: Calculators and wristwatches are not typically used in more than one orientation to view apps or for general functionality and digital building directories bolted to the wall are unable to be reoriented. BASE TEXT FROM WHICH THE ABOVE WAS BUILT EN 301 549 11.1.3.4 Where ICT is, or includes, [a non-web document] {non-web software that provides a user interface}, and it is displayed on hardware that is designed to be reoriented in typical use, the non-web software shall satisfy the WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.3.4 Orientation <https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/#orientation>. NOTE: [Non-web software] [A non-web document] that is only used on hardware that supports a single display orientation, or where it is an application that is run only on hardware that is physically fixed in one orientation (e.g. a digital building directory) is excluded by the precondition and therefore does not need to provide support for orientation changes. EXAMPLES: Calculators and watches would not be expected to support two orientations. Nor would a building directory software written to ONLY be used on tablet devices bolted to the wall, all in the same orientation, be expected to support two orientations.
