IMHO, that paraphrasing goes beyond the literal requirement of the SC, but that's fine too. The software publisher has satisfied themselves that the product name sufficiently reflects the purpose and function of the software. Software product names describe topic or purpose. When this proves to not be case, the publisher rebrands (renames) their product. '2.4.2. exact language is Web pages <https://w3c.github.io/wcag/guidelines/22/#dfn-web-page-s> have titles that describe topic or purpose. Replacig Sofware for web pages gives us S <https://w3c.github.io/wcag/guidelines/22/#dfn-web-page-s>oftware have titles that describe topic or purpose. I don’t see any way to read that as saying that “any name at all” describes the purpose of the software. If we do — then the requirement has no meaning at all - since one cannot fail it. So why include it at all. It says nothing. it explains nothing. it requires nothing. And as a result it creates confusion with no benefit of any kind. if we take it to mean the plain english interpretation of that sentence - then we have the opposite. Almost all software will fail. For example none of these product names " describe topic or purpose.” GIMP Blender Calibre HandBrake Jitsi Zotero Anki Hugin QGIS Trello Asana Zapier Monday Zapier Obsidian SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVE WCAG2ICT LANGUAGE - What was reall intended was that WINDOWS or VIEWS have titles that allow them to be identified from each other. - 3 possible solutions to say for software 1) "Applies with 'windows or views' replacing 'web page'. 2) "Applies with '(programmatically determinable) name' replacing Title 3) "Applies with 'windows or views' replacing 'web page' and '(programmatically determinable) name' replacing Title. The latter would work on windowless environments. For most Tvs (that have no screen readers) they would be closed products and handled like all other closed products.
