Leaning towards no on this.

Zoom chat has been working well for ephemeral in-meeting things like “what’s the link for the issue we’re talking about?"
  *
If the information is important enough to keep around, then it should be in the minutes or the issue thread
  *
The W3C’s Slack plan deletes messages after 90 days, so we can’t rely on that for longevity
  *
If we do want something like this, then an IRC channel would work. IRC is likely on most people's list of “it’s open when there’s meetings”, so most likely couldn’t be relied upon as a place for discussions in-between meetings

How would people feel about using Slack, mostly during meetings, but can
also be helpful to share links/follow-up on things discussed during the
call itself?

I'm thinking a channel on the official W3C Slack organisation.

Or, failing that, a dedicated IRC channel?
