Re: AW: Using AT for evaluation

All:

Is it possible to make a general requirement with regards to AT testing but
not to specify the exact assistive technology that needs to be used or who
would do the testing?  In other words, what about requiring testing for
blind, low vision, and mobility impaired scenarios that utilizes assistive
technology?  It's a simple mandate that way. And, a company can outsource
it (ideal) or do testing in-house (budget constraints may require that for
some, or there may be disabled employees tasked for the work).  By using a
phrase like "scenarios that utilize assistive technology" I think we can
list examples that aren't requirements but recommendations.

This would also put the focus back on the user and ease of use, reinforcing
that accessibility is not merely a technical solution or checklist.
