RE: WCAG-EM Feedback

Hi Denis & TF

Thanks for that Denis, yes, I expect I'm feeling a bit protective of our 'baby'.

Most people I've talked to so far have been really encouraging. A good many are reserving judgement until Sections 4&5 have more content - which is justified I think.

I think the draft is also a good way to let people know that we're working on something that will have some value and bring some cohesiveness to the field of website evaluation.

Hi folks,

Sorry to have been so silent in the past few months. I'm hoping I can come back to focussing on this work here soon enough.

Vivienne, with all due respect, I think you are being a little sensitive. Considering the fact that E.A. Draffan bought into Karl's april fools joke, I wouldn't worry about this too much. I'm pretty sure what she meant was simply that she agreed with what he was saying and that she, too, sohuld consider moving to another passion of hers... after all, it does get tiring to keep telling people the same things over and over again, while the results rarely live to the (our?) expectations. ;p

This methodology is a really good and honest attempt at providing the community with a reliable and measurable way to assess accessibility. It is not yet perfect, and quite frankly, nor will it ever be, and there will always be people out there who will feel it's not "good enough". Whether E.A. feels it's good or bad doesn't matter so much (obviously, it would be cool if she thought it was good) as it would still be one person's opinion and what we're striving for is is community endorsement.

What truly matters is that we get as many people as possible to follow up with the methodology, so we get more and more coherence between evaluators. And so far, most people I've spoken to about this feel it's a really interesting effort. Have you had the chance of getting some feedback yourself?

What we should try and reach for however, is constructive criticism from the people who feel it's not "good enough". So I encourage all of us to go and get that feedback, whenever someone says the methodology isn't "good enough" to their liking. Because that's a great way to make it better. Not a lot of people have the drive to take part, but a lot of people have opinions. We can learn from all that. :)

Have a great week everyone.
