This is the 05-12 October 2012 edition of a "Weekly digest of W3C news and  
trends" that the W3C Communications Team prepares for the W3C Membership  
and public-w3c-digest mailing list (publicly archived [1]) and sends  
separately. This digest aggregates information about W3C from online  
media, a snapshot of how W3C and its work is apprehended as viewed from  
online media.

Notable activity last week includes:
  - 60 articles after the Webplatform.org launch, including in French,  
Russian, Dutch.
  - 18 articles about Do Not Track, including in French, Greek, Dutch.
  - nearly 2000 stories about W3C on Twitter.
  - 3300 Twitter mentions of webplatform.org on the launch day (2500 the  
following).
  - net increase of 540 Twitter followers.
  - 26 posts that dlvr.it posted to StatusNet, Twitter and Facebook between  
Oct 2-9 got 35.3K clicks, delivered to 54K connections.
Initial stats for webplatform.org after day 1:
  * 86k visitors in the first 24 hours (or so)
  * 720k page views
  * 664,927 wiki views
  * 7,289 registered users
  * 280 editors (users who have edited)
  * 2,036 content pages, with 11,278 edits
