RE: Update to W3C Anniv/Brand Task Force Members

Here's an update to the update!

As soon as I hit 'send', I realized you might be confused by how a budget
ultimately would be provisioned. Note that ANY amount we assume, we will
need to identify any potential funding sources. Ian and I thought the amount
we suggested seemed reasonable and could be funded--if we put together an
aggressive funding request plan.

Best,

Marilyn

Subject: Update to W3C Anniv/Brand Task Force Members

Hello task force members,

I just wanted to update you on a few important developments and thoughts.

---------------------------------------------------------

Branding and Anniversary Task Force Mid-term Review

With Jeff Jaffe

Thursday, 18-April

1-3 p.m. ET (although it has not been decided yet which hour is for which
task force)

You are invited to this conference call, although your participation is
entirely voluntary. (Unfortunately, there's little wiggle room in Jeff's
schedule, as he's asked multiple task forces to report next week.) Please
let me know if you want to conference into the meeting.

--------------------------------------------------------

As an update to Jeff, I had a discussion with Ian Jacobs, my supervisor who
is also on the task force(s). I was struggling with the indeterminate budget
for this project. Ian coached me that the team could assume $100-200k, at
least to begin to focus our brainstorming and proposal efforts. We talked
about focusing on an associated cause-like encouraging global youth to learn
to code-with which we could partner. The output of that discussion was added
to the Anniversary Task Force wiki page
<http://www.w3.org/wiki/Headlights2013/Anniversaries> . Please see more
descriptive info I added to the wiki under 'Approaches to Consider' and let
me know your thoughts, because this is something I would like to pass by
Jeff at our meeting next week.

--------------------------------------------------------

Troy, when I met your supervisor Lori Davidson in Barcelona at MWC, I told
her I would keep your Intel team involved. Do you suggest I extend an
invitation to Lori to join the task force(s)? Or would you prefer to serve
as Intel's representative?

-------------------------------------------------------

The Branding Task Force is somewhat still dependent on results of our Market
Research Quantitative Survey. I should have a copy of that survey to share
with you by early next week. The goal is to distribute the market survey the
week of 21-April.

-----------------------------------------------------

Feel free to respond to me directly and/or copy the
public-w3c-anniversaries@w3.org listserv. Right now, the same people are
members of both the Branding and Anniversary Task Forces.

Thanks very much for your attention, interest, and participation, and
support. As always, feel free to modify the wikis or send messages to the
other members via our listservs.

Best,

Marilyn Siderwicz
