[VSC CG] Repository Structure Launched - Industry Profiles, Interoperability Framework, and Tooling

Hi All,

I am pleased to announce the initial repository structure for the
Verifiable Supply Chain Community Group is now available:

Repository: w3c-cg/vsc: W3C Verifiable Supply Chain CG: Industry profiles,
interoperability toolkits, and trust frameworks for W3C Verifiable
Credentials and UORA in global trade. <https://github.com/w3c-cg/vsc>
After our discussions on practical implementation paths, I have established
a comprehensive structure that aligns with our charter and the UORA CG
liaison. The repository is organized to support both standards development
and real-world adoption.Core Structure
Directory Purpose
profiles/ Industry-specific VC/UORA profiles (pharmaceuticals, critical
minerals, food & beverage, luxury goods, electronics, automotive)
interoperability/ Mapping to legacy standards: GS1 EPCIS, ISO 28000, and
regulatory frameworks (DSCSA, EUDR, CBAM)
trust-framework/ Governance models, accreditation criteria, and liability
frameworks for supply chain consortia
use-cases/ Real-world implementations, ROI calculators, and implementation
playbooks
tools/ Reference implementations: Python library, TypeScript SDK,
conformance test suites
specs/ Formal specifications: JSON-LD schemas, API definitions, and context
files
.github/ CI/CD workflows and standardized issue templates for profile
proposals, use cases, and interoperability issues
This structure enables us to:

   1.

Accelerate Adoption - Industry profiles provide ready-to-use schemas
   2.

Bridge Legacy Systems - EPCIS mappings ensure interoperability with
   existing supply chain infrastructure
   3.

Establish Trust - Governance frameworks define how networks accredit
   issuers
   4.

Prove Value - ROI calculators and case studies demonstrate business
   impact
   5.

Enable Implementation - Reference SDKs and test suites lower the barrier
   to entry

I invite all members to:

   1.

Review the structure - Familiarize yourself with the organization
   2.

Contribute to profiles - Help draft the pharmaceutical and critical
minerals profiles as initial focus areas
   3.

Share use cases - Document your implementation experiences
   4.

Join the UORA liaison - We will maintain synchronized development with
   the UORA CG once launched

Call for Contributions

We need active participation in these areas:
Area Priority Current Need
Pharmaceuticals Profile High Review DSCSA requirements and draft JSON-LD
schema
EPCIS Mapping High Contribute mapping specifications and translation
examples
Test Suites Medium Define conformance criteria for implementations
ROI Models Medium Share quantified business cases from pilots

Getting Started
bash

git clone https://github.com/w3c-cg/vsc.gitcd vsc-cg

The repository includes:

   -

Issue templates for submitting profile proposals and use cases
   -

   GitHub Actions for CI/CD
   -

   Meeting minutes template
   -

.gitkeep files to preserve directory structure

Please review the structure and come prepared with feedback and
contributions.

Looking forward to building this together,

Amir Hameed Mir
Chair, Verifiable Supply Chain Community Group

*Note: The repository currently contains placeholder files. We will fill
these with actual specifications, schemas, and tooling through community
contributions. Please let me know if you would like to lead any of the
profile workstreams.*
