Hello, I would say probably extending just by providing a more specific name *but not defining new properties* should not be an issue. For example, you may want to consider a more specific tourist attraction type such as ArtGallery. Then you can use http://schema.org/TouristAttraction/ArtGallery to specify this new (sub)type. If you want to specify a description about a concrete art gallery (an instance, not a type) such as "Tate Modern" you may consider using the type http://schema.org/TouristAttraction/ArtGallery together with the property name (name="Tate Modern"). -Adrian G.
