Status of Veres One

Hi all,

This is just a brief update on the Veres One project.

We have not circulated the existence of this group at all and will not
do so until we have the Veres One Board of Governors in place:

We are currently wrapping up those recruiting efforts and have been able
to attract a deeply impressive group of people that have participated in
the creation and growth of the Internet and the Web, especially from a
governance perspective, over the past 30+ years. We hope to announce
these individuals, with their permission, at the end of June 2018.

The Veres One Testnet continues to function with 100% uptime for the
nodes, with new Decentralized Identifiers being created on a regular basis:

We did experience our first issue[1] with the network this past week. A
misconfiguration resulted in new HTTPS certificates not being served on
the HTTP-based access to the websites. The issue was reported and
resolved within two hours and we're currently working on ensuring that
the certificate renewal process is more automatic as the network proceeds.

We are also in the process of setting up an organization to house the
Board of Governors and are in the advanced stages of having all of the
information necessary to determine what country this organization will
exist in and how the organization will scale. Our preference is
Switzerland, but fees for incorporating a non-profit Foundation in that
area of the world are 20x greater than doing one in the US (for
example). So, we are exploring options and will provide those to the
Board of Governors for approval.

As such, the production launch of the network is being pushed from Q2 to
Q3 2018, largely as a result of ensuring that the governance processes
of the network are in place and functioning.

We'll report progress on the initiative over the coming months.
