It ranks everyone's first/preferred choice, but doesn't help us see other availability. For example, I just voted for the current time slot because I couldn't be sure that if I voted for another slot that it would line up with others (my vote would get lost in a seal of other disparate votes). There are also other days that might be better, but I couldn't vote for those because I was only allowed to pick one day and one time. So, to avoid getting a broad distribution without any particular winner, I just ended up voting for the same time (which is what I'd expect most others to do given the game theory of the poll)... which will result in no change in time and no way to know if there could have been a change in time. You might take a look at the poll Elaine sent out wrt. meeting times, which is the sort of poll that will get the sort of data we need to make a well informed decision on meeting times. It allows choices across multiple days and multiple times. The only danger w/ Elaine's poll is accidentally not including critical people from APAC or EU. People that sit outside the most popular time zones might get overlooked, and if they're critical to the work, that would be very bad indeed. That said, these polls are just input data for the TF to make an informed decision, and we'd probably veto times that have people that really want to participate. -- manu -- Manu Sporny - https://www.linkedin.com/in/manusporny/ Founder/CEO - Digital Bazaar, Inc. https://www.digitalbazaar.com/
