At present, CBOR-LD is an experimental format that is undergoing implementation feedback. We know of four organizations that have implemented CBOR-LD processors. The spec is in bad shape, there is no test suite yet, but we do have demonstration of a few non-trivial encoding/decoding use cases that are working (mainly related to the TruAge digital age token format). I expect 1-2 years more of incubation, spec refinement, and test suite development before we try to take it standards track at W3C. The core concept and base implementation seems to be holding well in the use cases that are using CBOR-LD... we just need more time to get implementation feedback before trying to put that first standards stake in the ground. I do think that CBOR-LD is moving at an accelerated pace from what we had originally intended... but, of course, I don't want to make any predictions based off of a burst of activity over the past few months.
