Dear Advisory Committee representative,
Chairs,

The Director is pleased to announce the approval of the Verifiable
Claims Working Group charter:

   http://www.w3.org/2017/vc/charter.html

This group is chartered until 31 March 2019.

It is currently difficult to express banking account information,
education qualifications, healthcare data, and other sorts of
machine-readable personal information that has been verified by a 3rd
party on the Web. These sorts of data are often referred to as
verifiable claims. The mission of the Verifiable Claims Working Group
is to make expressing, exchanging, and verifying claims easier and more
secure on the Web. The initial focus is in the area of education.

Please use this form to join the group. The form will also instruct you
how to nominate participants:
   https://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/98922/join

The Working Group chairs are Matt Stone (Pearson), Richard Varn (ETS),
and Daniel Burnett (Invited Expert). The initial Team Contact is Liam
Quin for a total of 0.1 FTE.

The co-chairs anticipate a face to face meeting towards the end of June
2017, probably in the USA (depending on Working Group participation).

More information about the Working Group can be found on its home page:
