Running Unicorn in an Offline Mode

Greetings,

According to the Unicorn architecture, it gathers observation responses from different sources on the web (checkers, validators, etc.).

What are the options for using Unicorn in an ‘offline’ mode (i.e., within an environment with no external network connectivity)?  Would you need to install each validator/checker service locally and then configure Unicorn to point to it on the internal network?

Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated.
