Rejected: Proposed Charter for TV Control Working Group; TV Control Working Group now closed

We called for review of a proposed new charter for the TV Control Working Group on 17 March 2017:

Thanks to the 22 Members who provided input and supported the group:

This call for review was explicitly meant to determine whether there existed a clear enough path to adoption of the TV Control API within the industry. The results show that there is no intention among respondents to build products based on the API at this time. As such, we believe that this work needs more focus in terms of use cases and requirements, and that the conditions are not met today for this work to succeed on the Recommendation Track.

The TV Control Working Group [1] is now closed as a result.

Discussions on scope, use cases and requirements are now moving back to the Web and TV Interest Group [2], and we encourage interested parties to provide feedback in that group. We hope that these discussions will help re-spawn standardization efforts on TV/radio tuner control within W3C.

The TV Control Working Group will publish the TV Control API specification as a final Working Group Note in the next few days:
