Some TVs from major manufacturers will contain more than one type of tuner (e.g. cable and terrestrial, or satellite and terrestrial), and I have seen TVs and STBs with three types of tuner (cable, satellite and terrestrial). We can't assume that all tuners will be able to receive the same set of channels, or that all of them will have an input connected.
