Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs]

W3C is pleased to announce the re-charter of the Media and Entertainment Interest Group:
  https://www.w3.org/2023/11/meig-charter-2023.html

The group is chartered through 31 October 2025.

The mission of the Media and Entertainment Interest Group is to provide a forum for media-related technical discussions to track progress of media features on the Web within W3C groups and use of Web technologies by external organizations, and to identify use cases and requirements that existing and/or new specifications need to meet to achieve improved support for media services on the Web.

Please use the following form to have your organization join the group. The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants:
  https://www.w3.org/groups/ig/me/join/

Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that meet the needs of the wider web community.

Current participants will remain in this group and are not required to re-join.

The Interest Group co-Chairs are Tatsuya Igarashi (Sony), Chris Needham (BBC) and Christopher Lorenzo (Comcast). The Team Contact is Kazuyuki Ashimura for a total of 0.1 FTE.

More information about the group can be found on the group home page:

Results of Charter Call for Review
-----------------------------------
We called for charter review on 4 September 2023:
https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2023JulSep/0029.html

Thanks to the 21 Members who provided input:
  https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/meig2023/results

Member responses:
* 15 supported the charter as is
* 2 gave "suggests changes but supports the proposal whether or not the changes are adopted"
* 4 abstained

While we did not reach 5% of the Membership review, not all of the active members in the group responded to the Advisory Committee Review. In addition, the group holds monthly regular calls to discuss collaboration with related W3C groups, e.g., Media WG, Timed Text WG and APA WG, and external SDOs, e.g., HbbTV, CTA WAVE and DVB. So no concerns were raised.

No substantive changes were made to the charter following the Advisory Committee Review.
