{minutes} TTWG Meeting 2018-10-18

Thanks all for attending today's TTWG meeting. Minutes can be found in HTML format at https://www.w3.org/2018/10/18-tt-minutes.html

Please note that we made three resolutions:

RESOLUTION: Request transition of TTML1 3rd Ed to Rec on 2nd Nov 2018

RESOLUTION: Request transition of TTML2 to Rec on 2nd Nov 2018

RESOLUTION: Request transition of IMSC1.1 to Rec on 2nd Nov 2018

The review period for these resolutions, according to our decision policy, ends on Thursday 1st November.

We agreed to make an editorial change to TTML1 3rd Edition to bring the list of Contributing Authors into line with those in TTML2 prior to requesting this transition.

This meeting

Nigel: Today, our agenda has TPAC F2F for next week, TTML
   Profile Registry,
... and proposing that we request transition to Rec of TTML1
   3rd Ed, TTML2 and IMSC 1.1.
... I'd like to check if there's any review response of the CSS
   email also.
... Any specific points to raise or other business?

   Andreas: Not from my side.

   Glenn: Negative!

Pierre: Only got a couple of minutes
... Re the CSS Text Level 4 changes, no comment - it's hard for
me to understand but good that it's there.
... Maybe with a greater understanding of CSS it makes more
   sense.

Transition requests

Nigel: I've reviewed the open pull requests to prepare Rec
   versions, I think they're all
   ... approved now.
... I had one query about the list of contributing authors on
TTML1 3rd Ed but aside from
... that there are no substantive changes.
... As mentioned last week, I propose that we begin the
decision review period on a resolution
... to request transition to Rec of TTML1 3rd Ed, TTML2 and
   IMSC 1.1 today.
... This would be based on those repo branches that contain the
   prepared versions.
... Thank you to the Editors for creating those.
... Any objection to requesting transition?

   group: [silence]

Nigel: Our timeline shows I have to send the WG Resolution on
   2nd Nov.

PROPOSAL: Request transition of TTML1 3rd Ed to Rec on 2nd Nov
   2018
... Request transition of TTML2 to Rec on 2nd Nov 2018
... Request transition of IMSC1.1 to Rec on 2nd Nov 2018

Nigel: Any objections to making those Resolutions?

   group: [silence]

RESOLUTION: Request transition of TTML1 3rd Ed to Rec on 2nd
   Nov 2018

RESOLUTION: Request transition of TTML2 to Rec on 2nd Nov 2018

   <inserted> .

RESOLUTION: Request transition of IMSC1.1 to Rec on 2nd Nov
   2018

   Nigel: Thank you!
... Looking at the AC review there are no objections, and 11
   organisations have responded.

Glenn: You might want to point out the change request on the
   wiki, which drove a
... number of the changes. Terence Eden is probably not aware
of it and we didn't refer
   ... to it.

Nigel: I got the sense that he thinks it is good practice to
   motivate the changes, and we
   ... have not done that.
... I am happy to check that with him though.

Glenn: It would certainly help for people reviewing from the
   outside in, you know.

   Nigel: Agreed.

TTML1 Contributing Authors

Nigel: Looking at the TTML1 list of Contributing Authors, I
   think it needs some
... adjustment. I think I should be added, and Andreas's status
   is no longer Invited Expert.

Glenn: I think we should update it as you mention to add
   yourself and update Andreas
   ... as a minimum.

   Pierre: No opinion

Glenn: Pierre, can you handle that update?

   Pierre: Sure.
... Can people be listed in Editors as well as Contributing
   Authors?

Glenn: I did that in TTML2

   Nigel: No objection from me

Pierre: If you can open an issue for it that would be helpful,
or make a comment on the PR

   Nigel: I can do that

Pierre: It would be useful to say the list should match TTML2

   Nigel: Yes, that's fine.
... I will update the pull request comment
... Any other comments on the Rec preparation pull requests?

   group: [no other comments]

TTML Profile Registry

Nigel: I've opened some pull requests but there are some issues
   remaining without
   ... proposals.

Pierre: My understanding is Mike wanted to be involved but
   cannot be until after TPAC.

   Nigel: That's right.

Pierre: I haven't done anything because Mike seemed interested
   in doing it.

Nigel: We have a scheduling issue - if we want to publish on
13th Nov then we need to
... complete it on October 30th. I have mentioned that to Mike.

Glenn: We can publish the Note later.

Nigel: Yes, I was thinking that from an external perspective it
   makes sense to synchronise
... its publication with the Rec publications.
... Our decision policy does apply.

Pierre: I think we should make sure Mike is informed of what
   we're planning.

Nigel: I think I already did, but if it's not clear then we can
   make it so.

Pierre: I thought it was not clear.

Nigel: Can we agree to target 13th November for publication of
   an update?

Pierre: If its available 2 weeks later and Mike is happy then
   it's a better outcome. If he's
... happy for us to proceed and make Nov 13th then I'm equally
   happy with that.

Glenn: I don't have a strong position either way. I have no
   problem deferring to let Mike
... get involved and in some ways would prefer that.

   Andreas: No opinions

Nigel: It seems to be me who has the strongest view, and I also
   would like Mike to be
... able to participate and be happy with the outcome.
... The key thing is there doesn't seem to be a strong group
   motivation for publishing
... on the same date as the Recs, so we can take a little
   longer.
... I will contact Mike and let him know.
   ... Moving on,
... The EBU-TT Metadata proposal is in pull request #50. Unless
   anyone has any comments
... now then I propose that we review this in our f2f meeting
   next week.

Pierre: I've not had time to review, maybe tell us the general
   idea.

Nigel: I made a proposal based on Cyril's suggestion, which
   involved adding both a
... normative statement about the origination of the ebuttm:
   namespace and the elements
... we refer to within that namespace, and an informative note
   describing the applicability
... of the EBU-TT Metadata specification, which was drawn from
   the abstract and scope
... of that document. However my concern is that I don't think
that text is ideal. So I'd
   ... appreciate reviews.
... I took text from the specification to be non-contentious
   but the result somehow
   ... doesn't hit the spot.

Pierre: Thanks for that, I will review it.
... I have to drop off the call now. [drops off the call]

   Nigel: Thanks.
... There's one other thing to add, which is that specref isn't
up to date for the EBU
... specifications so I've added local bibliography entries in
the pull request and will also
... make a pull request on specref to add them there; assuming
   that works, I can remove
... the local entries from this pull request.
... I'm mid-flight in preparing the specref pull request right
   now.

TPAC 2018

Nigel: There's been some discussion of the agenda for the M&E
   IG joint meeting, and no
   ... more on our meeting.
... As per the discussion above I will add TTML Profile
   Registry pull request reviews to
... the agenda for our meeting.
... Any queries or comments for our TPAC agenda or our joint
   meeting agenda?

   group: [no]

Nigel: We'll finalise the agenda on Monday morning in any case.
... One thing to note - our meeting on Monday begins 0830 and I
   hope to be there from
   ... the beginning.
... Please try to be punctual so we can maximise the use of our
   time.
... I have also sent Webex joining details to the member-tt
   reflector for anyone wanting
... to join remotely, and we have a Polycom phone available in
   the room.

Meeting Close

Nigel: We've completed our agenda, so thank you everyone. See
   you on Monday, those
... at the F2F, good travels. [adjourns meeting]
