ISSUE-344 (Note for unqualified attributes): Add a clarification note expressing intent behind unqualified attribute names [TTML2] http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/issues/344 Raised by: Nigel Megitt On product: TTML2 TTML 1 and TTML 2 describe non-normatively the intent behind unqualified element names, in section 5.1 Namespaces, i.e. "If a reference to an element type is used in this specification and the name of the element type is not namespace qualified, then the TT Namespace applies.". However this leaves unstated the intent for unqualified attribute names. In fact the intent is as in XML that unqualified attributes are in no namespace, and are qualified structurally by their parent element, which is therefore different to the intent for elements. To aid interpretation and clarify for readers less familiar with this concept I propose adding a non-normative note to ยง5.1 clarifying this for attributes with no namespace qualification, something like: -- Note: If a reference to an attribute is used in this specification and the name of the attribute is not namespace qualified, then no namespace applies; the attribute is qualified by the element to which it belongs. --
