ISSUE-357 (horizontal in vertical): Add support for horizontal in vertical (tate-chu-yoko). [TTML2] http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/TT/tracker/issues/357 Raised by: Glenn Adams On product: TTML2 In order to support Japanese subtitle and caption requirements, it is necessary to support horizontal in vertical layout 縦中横 'tate-chu-yoko'. The previously added tts:textOrientation is not sufficient to handle all use cases involving mixtures of horizontal and vertical text. One solution is to define a textCombine style property based the text-combine-upright property defined by CSS Writing Modes Level 3 [1].
