Dear readers, As requested at the currently ongoing W3C TT meeting in Amsterdam, please find attached a resend of the original liaison statement the EBU P/AS Group provided on 14th June 2004. As a spin of of the P/AS work and in collaboration with the AAF Forum and BBC R&D, in early August 2004 an ad-hoc group of people interested in AAF and MXF (broadcast file formats) met in Kingswood to discuss how to progress the support for subtitling in these formats. At the Kingswood meeting it was decided that the W3C TT work is worth a more detailed study to see if it could provide the basis for subtitling support in AAF/MXF. Also more information on the delivery dates for the TT work was felt to be needed. May I therefore kindly ask you to inform us on the the status and planning of your work. The ad-hoc group plans to have a telephone conference in October and, if possible, would very much like to discuss a draft of the TT specification by then.
