Dear TPWG, today, we (David, Roy, and I with Wendy, Philip, Ralf, and Bert) had a friendly and constructive status call with W3C where we presented our case: - Multiple implementations by browser plug-ins (Badger, Telecom, Bouncer) - A few major sides (Unilever) supporting it - Limited support by major browsers The feedback we received is that the overall marked demand seems to be limited and that W3C would like to get a stronger pull from sites/tool vendors/servers/browsers to ensure that once published the standard is widely deployed. Another wish would be implementations by companies/orgs that are not member of the WG. We now have three options (at least those are the ones we discussed): - Submit a request to promote the standard to REC (success is possible but not too likely at this point). - Extend the charter (e.g. by 1 year), maintain the CR, and wait for additional market pull - Close the WG, publish the text as a note, and re-start if we have market pull. I suggest we meet on Feb 12 using our usual telco (9am pacific) to discuss the options and decide what to do. Any feedback/other options are welcome! Regards, matthias
