Appreciation of Thomas Roessler, and the Working Group

Dear Tracking Protection Working Group,

On the occasion of Thomas' announcing his move to Google, I want to take
this opportunity to express my gratitude for his many contributions to
the Tracking Protection Working Group and his great contributions to W3C
and the Web. Thomas, your expertise and pursuit of substantive agreement
have been very valuable to W3C in general and vital to this group in
particular. I wish you the best in your new position and look forward to
future opportunities to collaborate and improve the Web.

This Working Group has worked hard toward its 31 July Last Call
deadline. While we are not there yet due to the challenges of reaching
consensus, progress has been made, and I'm confident of continued
progress towards Last Call. Even as Thomas moves on, W3C remains
committed to the group's mission. Wendy Seltzer, Rigo Wenning, and Nick
Doty will continue to provide support for the group. In addition, I will
take the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the group's work
and to hear the perspectives of different participants. If there is some
perspective you would like to share, feel free to drop me a note.

I understand that the next call is 4 September, so let's return to our
discussions at that time with renewed energy to drive towards consensus.
