There is no mention of the term "Supply Side Platform" on ietf.org that I could find, and on w3.org all mentions of "cookie syncing" are in the context of this Working Group. I don't think it is clear what this is addressing to the typical person that might read the specification. It seems likely some would consider "cookie syncing" to mean that they'll transfer the login details from their desktop browser to their phone. >Background: >In a cookie syncing procedure a Demand-Side Platform (DSP) aim to match >a cookieXYZ (corresponding to its domain) to the cookieABC set by the >Supply Side Platform (SSP) for the same User-Agent U. The DSP parses the "cookieABC" in the >URL and associates it to the cookieXYZ for its domain. Once the cookies >have been matches, the DSP will be able to re-target U on the SSP >affiliated sites. It would probably help to start with a scenario (in terms of a shopping cart or login system or third party polling system or whatever) where this is actually needed. As I understand it, the Working Group would like to avoid being too technology-specific, and "cookie" and "pixel" are very technology-specific. -- Björn Höhrmann · mailto:bjoern@hoehrmann.de · http://bjoern.hoehrmann.de Am Badedeich 7 · Telefon: +49(0)160/4415681 · http://www.bjoernsworld.de 25899 Dagebüll · PGP Pub.
