Dear Members of the Distributed Tracing Working Group, I'm relaying the following announcement that was sent to W3C Advisory Committee Representative earlier today, to notify the group of the new charter approval and call for participation. With kind regards, Xueyuan Jia, Manager, Member Communications -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Call for Participation: Distributed Tracing Working Group Charter approved; Join the Distributed Tracing Working Group Date: Thu, 21 Aug 2025 18:12:11 +0800 From: Xueyuan Jia <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, [This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs] W3C is pleased to announce the recharter of the Distributed Tracing Working Group. https://www.w3.org/2025/08/distributed-tracing-wg.html The group is chartered through 21 August 2027. The mission of the Distributed Tracing Working Group is to define standards for interoperability between tracing tools. Please use the following form to have your organization join the group. The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants: https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/distributed-tracing/join/ Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that meet the needs of the wider web community. Current participants are not required to rejoin this group because the charter includes no new deliverables that require W3C Patent Policy licensing commitments. The group chair is Sergey Kanzhelev (Google). The Staff Contact is Philippe Le Hégaret <plh@w3.org> for a total of 0.05 FTE. More information about the group can be found on the group home page: https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/distributed-tracing/ [...] To see all changes relative to the proposed charter, follow this link: https://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2025%2F05%2Fdistributed-tracing-proposed-wg.html&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2025%2F08%2Fdistributed-tracing-wg.html To see all changes relative to the previous charter, follow this link: https://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2023%2F05%2Fdistributed-tracing-wg-charter.html&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2025%2F08%2Fdistributed-tracing-wg.html This announcement follows section 5.7.2 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/policies/process/20250818/#ACReviewAfter and the Call for Participation follows section 4.5 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/policies/process/20250818/#cfp Thank you, For Philippe Le Hégaret, VP, Technical Strategy; Xueyuan Jia, Manager, Member Communications
