For example as seen in ASS subtitles [2] I am talking about animation for the subtitles. Two main types of animation to be specific. The first is subtitles that try to follow movement in the video. From an implementer standpoint it means freeform animation of the cue as displayed with timing information relative to the cue. The css keyframes system may be relevant here. The second is subtitles that display karaoke. That is, visual aid to the viewer for which syllable has, is and will be audible next. This is traditionally used to allow singalong for songs.
