I should have said, that another advantage of the CSS approach is that it deals with other changes of position. For example, if the cues must be shown under the speaker, and they are moving across the screen, one might position at 10%, 20% etc. in successive cues. Setting a CSS transition on x-pos would cause the cues to float smoothly from position to position -- again, iff you support CSS transitions.
