This is an introductory message for this new W3C mailing list. We'd like to open up the Test the Web Forward planning process to the broader community, including W3C working group members, W3C staff, implementors and browser vendors, community leaders, and the entire web development community. Basically, we invite everyone who is passionate about Making a Better Web to participate by helping us plan and organize Test the Web Forward events around the world. Like all other W3C mailing lists, using this one for TestTWF event planning gives us the opportunity to work together and track discussions on specific topics of interest. How to use this list: Since there are many details that go into planning events, here is some guidance for topics on which we very much welcome input: - Specs or areas need tests the most - Specific tests that are needed - Suggested cities/countries for TestTWF events - Potential hosts, sponsors, or co-organizers of events - Experts who'd like to come to events and support new test authors - Speakers & presentation topics (bilingual speakers, too!) - Hacking projects on test infrastructure - Hacking projects to convert & upstream vendors' test suites - Specific communities or user groups around which an event can be planned - Meetup ideas or suggestions (one or two related topics, no hacking) - Virtualization of TestTWF events How not to use this list: There a few things we discourage for discussion on this list: - Financial matters - Please no specific discussion about costs, sponsorship contributions, etc. - Business competition or conflicts of interest - Although we are all part of the same Open Web community, we understand that all companies operate under specific business goals and within a competitive landscape, which can sometimes effect co-sponsorship of events. Please refrain from discussing these matters publicly here. If you must do so, please handle this privately with event organizers. - Deeply technical discussions about specs, tests, or test infrastructure. These are all areas that have listed dedicated for those types of discussions. Please note that by using this list for any of the above topics, there are no guarantees that the ideas or suggestions will be executed in any particular timeframe. The idea is to stimulate discussion, involve the broader community, and have leaders step forward and partner with others to have their ideas come to fruition. As we plan successive events, we will try to incorporate the input we receive here if it has high interest and will be well supported at the events.
