Dear all, I've recently started to work on a project that will make strong use of semantic web service descriptions. My problem is that on the one hand, i want to make use of the concepts outlined by OWL-S (IOPE semantics, SW ontologies) in the context of this project, and on the other hand, i have still difficulties with the OWL/RDF based syntax of OWL-S. Therefore, i have crafted an XML based service description format, which offers a more concise syntax, to increase the ease of use of the SWS descriptions. The concept roughly captures the semantics of OWL-S AtomicProcesses and their Groundings. I have put a draft of an article describing the concept online at: ==> http://sws.mcm.unisg.ch/servicedescription2.pdf I am very interested in hearing your thoughts on this proposal; if people feel that my work seems to make sense, i would try to make it as compatible to the original OWL-S semantics as possible, and I would try to provide an XML based markup format for OWL-S processes as well. My mid-term goal would be to really reduce the effort of creating service descriptions to an abolute minimum, which i personally see as a premise for widespread adoption of semantic web services. thanks and best regards, Joachim --- Joachim Peer Research Assistant MCM Institute, University of St. Gallen Blumenbergplatz 9, 9000 St. Gallen, Switzerland Phone: ++41 (0) 71 224 3441, Fax: ++41 (0) 71 224 2771
