Hello, I am Ion Constantinescu and I am currently working on a Ph.D. thesis on service integration in open environments. One fundamental assumption of our work is that the future internet will contain a huge number of services in the order of 10^9. The good thing about that will be that we will have allot of choices for solving service integration issues. The difficult thing will be the reasoning on how to make those choices, reasoning that will have to take into account the specifics of open environments. Concretely I am actively involved in developments related to the following areas: - discovery - creating efficient directories of large numbers of service descriptions - composition - completely different to planning in that the possible operators cannot be known a priori and must be discovered incrementally - reliable execution - determining recovery strategies by using replanning techniques for complex service orchestrations - long running transactions - building semantic compensation in the integration solutions Currently I am in the third year of my Ph.D. with Prof. Boi Faltings in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (http://liawww.epfl.ch/People/cion.html). Our lab had also a major contribution to the Agentcities project (www.agentcities.org). thank you, Ion
