On Friday, July 11 <https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/0e047c31-d561-4822-b075-651b40f2613a/>, the Remixing and Aggregation Task Force will meet for the first time from 1-2pm EDT. At a recent Social Web CG meeting Evan Prodromou and I agreed to co-chair this task force. At this first meeting we will begin to: - Set expectations for the task force's work product - Identify existing systems that provide remixing or aggregation - Identify currently unmet needs for remixing and aggregating in Social Web systems. - Identify individuals with an interest in contributing to this effort Some of the questions to be addressed by the task for include: - How should an aggregated feed appear on the Fediverse? Is it just another Actor that Announces activities and content that meet its requirements, or is some other structure appropriate? If so, how can such an Actor be recognized? - Should aggregated feeds be transparent about their sources or curation policy? If so, how would they provide such transparency? - What rights should be respected by those who remix or aggregate content published by others? How are those rights expressed or discovered? - Should ordering of and within feeds be supported? Some feeds might not be reverse chronologically ordered, but may use some other algorithmic ordering. - What new or improved applications would be enabled by the adoption and implementation of consensus standards for remixing and aggregation systems? You are encouraged to review and add to the issues <https://github.com/swicg/activitypub-remix/issues> maintained in the Task Force GitHub repository at: https://github.com/swicg/activitypub-remix Taskforce meetings will be held using Jitsi at: https://meet.jit.si/remix-aggregation-tf The following is the W3C Calendar entry for the first meeting: https://www.w3.org/events/meetings/0e047c31-d561-4822-b075-651b40f2613a/
