Hi SWEO,
Dunja connected me to Jörg Diederich, who is also member of the Rewerse
project and responsible for running the REASE portal (he did much
development of it), and we think about a possible cooperation to get
much learning material out to the masses.
http://rease.semanticweb.org/ubp
"Welcome to REASE, a repository comprising a unique collection of
learning resources around Semantic Web topics, such as presentations,
videos or pointers to educational activities"
Today Jörg and I had a meeting (ha, thats the good thing of SWEOs in
Europe, you have a whole workday before the telco), I am guest
researcher in Hannover at the moment and we are sitting in the same
building.
REASE has:
* Access rights
* Copyrights
* Upload Interface
* builds partly on JSP and on the educanext platform
* upload links or documents
* support to generate DOIs
* permanent URIs
* RDF export
Content is many many tutorials, at the beginning they had much
scientific material, now its equally science and teaching material for
courses and tutorials. Some of the content is exclusively published on
REASE.
Organisationally, REWERSE ends in February 2008, and then the REASE site
could be continued by others, two or more parties have already showed
interest, so the portal will probably keep running.

Suggested Cooperation
We set this as the possible way to go:
* when SWEO is done collecting the 20 best tutorials ever at [1], we
upload them to REASE
* we make a special site on REASE "REASE for SWEO", which is a
customized view on the REASE data showing the material entered by SWEO +
any learning material that has liberal licenses. we may put a SWEO logo
there and make advertisment for it from the SWEO side.
* Later on, we may make an importer that reads the data gathered at [2]
and imports them to REASE
Dunja can also help out with things, she is connected to the project.
Then, people interested in learning about hte semantic web can access them.
REASE requires you to get an account to access some material, this is
partly due to the fact that they have to track their success for the EU.
Do you think we can get more out of a cooperation?
best
Leo
