Danny, Unfortunately, I am out of town, so I could only quickly scan through the paper. But is _is_ interesting, and I will have to read it more thoroughly. I presume you refer to figure 5. It is really interesting, though not really clear to me. What it tells me is that, on the one hand, OWL+RDFS has really become the main set of tools for ontologies, leaving the others, F-logic, WSML, Common Logic, etc, far behind. Of course, the fact that these are standards really counts (although we should not forget about the technical problems around OWL+RDFS; put it another way, we should not dismiss the values of other tools!). However, it is not clear how many of those use _only_ RDF(S). Because RDF(S) is 64.9% and OWL is 75.9%, this is not clear at all to me. I actually cannot really interpret this result... This stuff would merit a blog. Would you do the honour? I am on the road... Cheers Ivan Danny Ayers wrote: > fyi > > (There seems to be an OWLish slant to the survey, yet the summary says > "It shows that the Semantic Web does not even need OWL and can achieve > important objectives such as data-sharing and data-integration using > just RDF alone."...hmm) > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: Jorge Cardoso <jcardoso@uma.pt> > Date: 16 Oct 2007 19:42 > Subject: [Semantic_Web] Survey results available: "The Semantic Web > Vision: Where are We?" > To: Semantic Web <semantic_web@googlegroups.com> > Cc: jcardoso@uma.pt > > > > Dear Semantic Web researcher, > > We would like to thank all the researchers from academia and industry > that have participated in the survey that we did last December with > the topic "The Semantic Web Vision: Where are We?".
